...Recommendations
(a) Conduct a de novo hearing to consider the Appeal of the Planning Director’s approval of the Historic Preservation Permit, File No. HP19-008, for the St. James Park Capital Vision and Levitt Pavilion Project to allow physical and programmatic changes to St. James Park, a contributing property to the St. James Square City Landmark Historic District consisting of approximately 7.6 acres in downtown San José. The St. James Park Capital Vision and Levitt Pavilion Project includes construction of a new Performing Arts Pavilion, café and restroom building, open air picnic pavilion and picnic grove, two dog parks, Meadow, playground, fountain, park office building, security lighting, perimeter fencing, transportation modifications and pedestrian and utility improvements.
(b) Adopt a resolution denying the permit appeal and approving, subject to conditions, Historic Preservation Permit, File No. HP19-008, for the St. James Park Capital Vision and Levitt Pavilion Project to allow physical and programmatic changes to St. James Park, a contributing property to the St. James Square City Landmark Historic District, on approximately 7.6 acres in downtown San José.
